Contents of the Webinar

In this seminar we raise the big questions: What is Europe all about? Is there such a thing as common European values? What do they comprise? Together we will also share our own feelings: Do we personally have a European identity? And can a European identity be built on values alone? Or does it need more? Building on these questions, we will together consider how the unification of Europe and the emergence of a European identity could be promoted. In doing so, we will also critically discuss the effectiveness and possible disadvantages of such efforts. Do we actually need a common European identity for the EU to function as a political project?

What is the “1040 Berlaymont” project?

“1040 Berlaymont” is the volunteer led civic education project of JEF Hessen for all young people who want to learn more about European politics. Whether you are a school group, a student group, a student council, a youth group, a trade union or church group – our free offer is open to anyone who would like to take a closer look at European political issues as part of one of our interactive modules or a simulation game.

Are you interested in booking the web seminar free of charge for a group you are supervising at another date? Then feel free to send us a request via this contact form. You can find more information about the project “1040 Berlaymont” here (in German).

Who we are

The Young European Federalists (JEF) are a non-party, Europe-wide youth movement. We consider ourselves ambassadors of the European idea and especially want to enthuse other young people for the European project. At the same time, JEF critically accompanies the policies of the EU. With our events, we want to impart knowledge about European policy issues and create a discussion forum for exchanging views on European topics.

More detailed info about us can be found here (in German). For information in English, check out the website of JEF Europe (https://jef.eu/about-jef/).
